This wooden cabin, furnished with just a few pieces of furniture, resembles those made for mountaineers and hikers so they can spend the night in it. But this particular hut by Stéphane Thidet does not offer the refuge you would like; inside, the rain comes pouring down. That rain keeps you from going inside – it’s better to stay outside.

With his unnamed installation, Stéphane Thidet inverts what is usually outside and inside; he turns the refuge into an unsavoury place. In his work, the French artist often manipulates, subverts and disrupts the familiar and everyday, playing with what you think you know and understand. He likes to present you with a world in which the ordinary and the absurd come together. In this way, he stimulates your imagination and asks you to re-examine your view of reality.
